Inspire #11: I Am Inspired by Butterflies

Butterfly on Butterfly bush
Magic Moments: Pauline DeForest

Butterflies are beautiful in their own right but they have also become symbols of transformation. The change from caterpillar to butterfly represents many aspects of the transformational, self-development movement. Where would the world be without this stunning example of the transformation from one stage to another, from ugly to beautiful, from earth bound to freedom? The caterpillar offers us all the hope that one day we will have freedom, that we will be transformed, that we will sprout wings and fly. The caterpillar and the butterfly is inspiration to which we can all aspire

Here is one of my favorite quotes from Richard Bach:

What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly. Source: Richard Bach

We are the caterpillar seeing only our own demise, unaware off the transformation from death to the equivalent of a spiritual butterfly.

Here is another one I love:

Butterflies are self propelled flowers  Source: Robert H. Heinlein

There, a completely different take! Self propelled flowers; what a concept.

Here is another favorite quote:

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.  Source: Chuang Tzu
And from Tagore, again a favorite:

The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.  Source: Rabindranath Tagore

Here is a beautiful video I urge you to take the time to watch.

And Just for fun and to round out the tribute:
