A Beautiful Rendition of Be Still My Soul
By Nick Grimshawe on July 12, 2009 | 2 Comments
Hello folks,
The Inspirational Sunday Video feature is one of the most popular features I post to this website. In our last issue of this feature we posted a song “Butterflies” by Cindy Ashton. Here is the link: Butterflies. I was honored to receive a comment from her about the post. I urge to go back and read it and listen to her beautiful song. I guarantee it will inspire you.
Part of the fun of doing this column is doing the research for the right music or right video. I have featured many of the inspiring and instructive video from TED. I also believe that music has a power to move the soul, like nothing else. I have featured a lot of music over the last few years that moved me deeply, and, as well Many of you.
I spend hours finding the right video. Some weeks the search turns up nothing, but not often. I only post something if it really moves me. That’s my criteria.
This week I am honored to have a friend and fellow blogger, Mitch Mitchell, suggest a song to me. I went straight away to listen to it. As soon as I heard the opening bars, I knew it would be this week’s selection. So a nod of gratitude to Mitch. I hope you all enjoy.
And if you like this selection, there is over three years of material in the archives. Just go to the right of this column, under categories and click on Inspirational Videos.
Enjoy Your weekend with family and friends.
Nick

Back From the Island
By Nick Grimshawe on October 3, 2008 | 8 Comments
This is the view that greeted me the other morning just a few steps from our rented cabin at Black Creek on Vancouver Island. Even this late in the year the weather held for us on our trip. To get to Black Creek we took a Ferry, called what else! but “Coastal Inspiration” from the British Columbia mainland to Duke Point on Vancouver Island.
Here is a picture of a freighter we passed on our way over.
Black Creek is about an hour and half drive up the coastal highway with a view of the water most of the way.
Here is a couple of shots of our cabin.
You can almost see a packet of potato chips, they are John’s not mine. Honest! The Cabin is a converted boat house with alot more character than the others at the same resort.I discovered this little guy on one of my walks:
At night sitting, around the fire pit, listening to the wood crackle and gazing at the stars gave me a chance to really let go and truly relax. We all need to do this from time to time. You don’t have to travel far away to do this. What you need to do is find a space that allows peace to seep in through your pores. Where is your place?
Here is a quote which for me describes the process:
We spend most of our time and energy in a kind of horizontal thinking. We move along the surface of things [but] there are times when we stop. We sit still. We lose ourselves in a pile of leaves or its memory. We listen and breezes from a whole other world begin to whisper.

I had a great time, recharged my batteries, and took time to reconnect to the universe.
What is your favorite way of allow peace to seep through your pores? Let me know I would love to hear from you.
Walk in Quiet Places
