It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.
Society does not encourage us to take risks, to chuck off the secure for a chance of something without guarantees. Your bank manager is counting up your bottom line, calculating your net worth, and suggesting conservative investments you can cash in when you’re sixty-five. Friends recommend the safe course. Parents react with alarm when presented with goals that do not represent a regular pay check.
Without those individuals of courage where would the world be now? Many of those individuals were not brave, but were propelled forward by a vision that demand courage.
Let’s be forever thankful for those individuals. And let us look within ourselves for the strength to pursue the change we so achingly desire deep within ourselves.
This weekend spend time thinking about all the men and women who have screwed up the courage to embrace the new. Identify someone in your life that is currently debarked on such an adventure.
Then ask yourself,” what is my adventure?” Nearly all of us are embarked on one.
