Finding Your Way Home by Melody Beattie

Melodie Beattie is best know for her book Codependent No More: How to Stop Controlling Others and Start Caring for Yourself

In this book Finding Your Way Home Ms Beattie speaks from the heart of her own personal experiences. This is no esoteric tome, but a very practical guide built from the ache of her own life.

Melody Beattie talks about the destruction of her life with the death of her son, and her struggle to rebuild her life: to escape from the quilt of living to an ability to embrace life, and spirit once again.

Ms Beattie talks from the heart about her own experience and the experiences of those about her who struggle to find their soul’s way back home. For me, these are the best parts of the book, her roaming in the desert of her life and her efforts to understand what has happened to her.

Each section of the book is followed by activities, Mantras, and Remedies that you can put to practical use in your own life. In fact, you could treat the book as a reference source to use to see you though your own challenges.

My favorite part of the book is about “Surrendering Control” a section to speaks to my own challenge.

There is also a very good Bibliography, a resource I wish more writers would use.

For any one on a spiritual journey, and aren’t we all in some way, this is an excellent view of how to come back from devastation to a full and happy life.
