Book Review:

The Astonishing Power of Emotions

By Esther and Jerry Hicks

This is the first Esther Hicks book I’ve read. I didn’t know what to expect and found myself pleasantly surprised.

Many of you may be Esther and Jerry Hicks fans, if not, just a wee bit of background.

Esther claims to speak for the Non-Physical consciousness, Abraham. When I listened to the CD that comes with the book any doubt in my mind evaporated. Whether of not you believe Esther Hicks claim doesn’t matter in the light of the material produced.

I found the book simple, direct and loaded with practical advise from “Abraham” on how to use the premise behind the book.

Abraham sums up the entire book with one simple expression: “Nothing you want is upstream.”

I suggest you listen to the CD first before you read the book because “Abraham, speaking through Esther, explains the metaphor of the river as life, and why one should row down stream rather than fight against the current of the river by trying to row upstream.

The first part of the book outlines the philosophy behind the Power of Emotions, which I read with delight. Rather than a heavy slogging through mind-bending concepts, and complicated theories, you are treated to a very logical, easy to grasp explanation of the Power of Emotions, and how to use that power to your benefit.

The second part of the book, deals with the question people put to Abraham, on everyday circumstances. The guidance offered is practical and simple to put into effect. The topics cover, weight loss, unhappiness at work, Heath concerns, death, money, and many relationship issues.

Each chapter help people to understand how to use the philosophy in their everyday lives.

I found several chapters that related to questions I had from reading the first part of the book.

Through out the book, you are guided by Abraham’s compassion, and wonderful, but gentle sense of humour.

If you are tired of all the philosophy with little practical application, this book is for you.
I highly recommend it.

I’ll Let Abraham Hicks tell you in their on words.
