The Race is With Yourself

We get into the habit early, thanks to well intention parents who in an effort to urge us on, compare us to others who by some mysterious means have somehow gotten ahead of us.
You know…”if you where more like Scott you would take out the garbage”…or ” be a top Tadalis SX href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball” title=”Baseball” rel=”wikipedia”>baseball player…” etc.
Since in childhood we are madly forming up our egos…encouragements like that simply inspire our ire.
Then as we wend out way to adulthood we find our selves in this constant, unconscious, comparative state.
Petty jealousies , turf wars, and bitter rivalries are launched on the back of these secretive evaluations of others.
“She’s popular because she’s ten pounds lighter than me and she simply has no morals. I could be that popular too if I didn’t respect myself so much.”
I am sure you have heard things like that.
I am sure you have thought things along the same lines…maybe not stated aloud…of course…but!
It’s okay… I won’t tell…besides I am a huge offender so I can hardly call the kettle black!
As with anything else awareness helps you catch those thoughts and change them as long as you have recognized the bad habit of constant comparisons.
Why is it a bad habit? Because it is a self inflicted wound. No one asked you to compare yourself to the most popular cheer leader or guys…nobody asked you to humiliate yourself by comparing your body to some professional football quarterback glamour stud.
All you need is to be whole and complete within yourself. Know that you are…that you always have been…that you always will be and give up this self-flagellation .
Now of course, I understand that it’s easier said than done.
I still catch myself doing it. But now at least I catch myself.
It’s back to that mirror again…to truly see what is there…your true beautiful self.
