The Dawning Hour
(c) by Nick Grimshawe
Take a little walk at the dawning hour.
Watch the flow of gold suffuse the hills,
And send pale lavender fingers across the skyline.
Hear the voices gathered to celebrate the new beginning,
Amid the dewy morning chill.
Feel that first touch of the ethereal blush of warmth against the skin.
Taste the budding of a new day,
A diaphanous sensation across soft lips.
Hold out your cupped hands to receive the blessing,
And splash your face with its liquid joy.

I love the blues and purples of this photo. Your words match the photo too. I feel like I’m standing right there at the edge contemplating things.
Hi Michelle,
Thanks you for your comments. It is rare that I get a photo and a thought to match so well together. I wrote the poem then searched for a photo that visualized what I had in mind.
