The Shack Still Number One!
I post my top 5 inspirational books only occasionally, but The Shack remains high on the best seller list at Amazon. Along with the popularity comes some controversy especially in the Christian community over William P Young’s portrayal of God. The book is decidedly outside the mainstream which to my mind accounts for the books popularity.
For myself coming from a more spiritualist view and dogma shy, the book is very accessible. Any one from any faith can read this book and relate. This isn’t just a Christian book for Christians, which allows The Shack to escape the genre and truly reach the hearts of most people.

Quote on Books
“Books were my pass to personal freedom. I learned to read at age three, and soon discovered there was a whole world to conquer that went beyond our farm in Mississippi.”

I use to read like crazy when I was a kid. Then I started attending college and did not allow myself the privilege of reading for fun anymore. Now that I’m at home full-time I have the time to read again and I’m so happy. The problem is my mind is a little cluttered and it is hard to concentrate on fiction. I can’t wait to unclutter and conquer the world again.
I owe my reading appetite to my Mother who always had a book at hand. She could knit, read, and watch TV all at once. Never figured out how to do that. But the example of a constant stream of books passing though the house sank in and I’ve been the same way for most of my life.
I hope you find that space to read in. I reserve fiction reading to bedtime, but as any guest in this house can attest, there are books everywhere in one stage or another of full gobble.
