A Lake in a Tree Root

The potential of the average person is like a huge ocean unsailed, a new continent unexplored, a world of possibilities waiting to be released and channeled toward some great good.

Potential can be viewed as anything that has not happened yet. Potential is as the quote says, a vast sea of all possibility awaiting manifestation to arrive in the physical universe. Potential is neither good nor bad, right or wrong, it just is all possibility. At birth your life is potential waiting to burst forth into the reality of your days. As you develop some of that potential is realized and becomes part of your history. When you look back at your past you are looking at the tiny speck of potential you have so far used.

Unfortunately people become trapped by what is in their past and use that as proof of their inability to tap into that limitless ocean of possibility. The tendency seems to increase with age. A person of fifty years accumulates more evidence to point to and blame, than a twenty year old. However, for both, the potential remains the same: there is no difference in their ocean of potential.

To me, the metaphor for potential is a beautiful summer morning.

With a new sun rising over the dew soaked, green hills, on a new morning, of fresh breezes, and bird song, we seem to stand poised for a heartbeat waiting for the pulse to begin again. In that moment, I personally became aware, for the first time in my young life, what it was like to stand on the beach of this vast ocean waiting for the surf to wash over my feet.

Rediscovering this moment many, many years later, sent a thrill of excitement up my spine and lead to the establishment of Beautiful Summer Morning.

    The excitement continues.

Creativity is the water of that ocean of potential.

All art is an act of creativity. The artist is not the master but the servant. Wayne Dyer explains this process best in his book “Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling”

To quote: “I’d place my hands on the table and allow the ideas to flow from the invisible world of Spirit through my heart and onto the pages. I know deep within me that I do not own these words—I’m merely an instrument through which these ideas are expressed.”

Every time I write I am aware of this process within me. When I try to force the words, they dry up. When I immerse myself in the ocean filled with the waters of creativity, the words flow.
For two years I have worked on an idea for a dialogue about many of the philosophical ideas that have emerged out of the book, “The Secret”. I took my first stab at this, writing “The SunShine Dialogues” which you can read at your leisure at Beautiful Summer Morning. But from the start the Dialogues were not what I really intended. I lacked faith in my original vision. Eventually I stopped writing the Dialogues.

Today as I walked with my dogs, and said Monday’s quote over and over again, just as I suggested to you (see I do walk the talk) the idea for the dialogues popped back into my mind, a little more fleshed out, with a course to take to bring them to life. Shortly, you will be reading about Baba and his genetically enhanced dog Sashimo. Stay tuned.

I am not a fully born self-help guru. I am on a journey of self discovery. I have not fully conquered ego, self doubt, or all the challenges of my life. But I know I have the potential to do that, that you have the potential as well, and together, by sharing the voyage, we can learn from each other, and laugh and play together on a grassy knoll as the sun rises on another beautiful summer morning.

Out of the ocean of potential to you.

    Nick
