At The End of the Day

I love Christmas. I love giving gifts, the more personal I can make them the better. I created a 3 page card with some of my favourite quotes from Beautiful Summer Morning and gave them away to many people on my gift list. I made up little gift baskets with a group of little items on a theme.

This year I made a special note of what happened to me once all the gifts were open and all the clothes and other gifts were put away.

I found myself sitting in an arm chair with a coffee and surrounded by the gifts of books and magazines that I wanted to browse through and treasure.

The gifts of clothes are great, don’t get me wrong and I am thankful for them. But what I enjoyed where the things that made me think, that challenged my mind, that inspired ideas.

So as the silent snow came down outside, I wrapped my self in the cozy warmth of home, and leafed through books, read, sampled and tasted, and made notes in my Diary.

Books , ideas, inspiration, writing, these are my joys. Finding what you enjoy is the single most important Key to a successful life.

One of my goals this year is to find ways to help people find those Life Keys.

Here’s idea to help you along, whether you know your Life Keys or not: Happiness Notes.

In your journal each day, talk about the things that made you happy that day. You don’t have to create long drawn out entries, just something to jog your memory when you go back and read through your notes.

Here is an entry from my notes for Dec 25, just as an example.

Read an Article on Nigella Lawson this morning. I am a fanatical fan of Nigella’s simply because I love her approach to food and to life in general. The article just made my infatuation worse.
