A Pueblo Indian Prayer

Hold on to what is good,
even if it’s a handful of earth.

Hold on to what you believe,
even if it’s a tree that stands by itself.

Hold on to what you must do,
even if it’s a long way from here.

Hold on to your life,
even if it’s easier to let go.

Hold on to my hand,
even if I’ve gone away from you.

Comments:

Sometimes we are tempted to let go. We read the headlines in the Newspaper, we watch the real life horror stories unfold in graphic detail on our T.V. screens, and we wonder why we try when all around us people no longer seem to care.

That is only one preception of the world. We are in danger if we allow those images and impressions to seduce us to follow the pack.

We need, like the prayer says, to hold onto what is good, and what we believe, because all around us others are doing the same, if we only look.

Stand your ground, hold onto that out stretched hand,
for the world is a much better place than the imagemakers would have you believe.
