This is why finding a place you can go to each day where you have time to meditate, if only a short time, is important. Finding the beauty outside requires only for us to open our eyes and find it. You can find the outer beauty any where you are. But looking inward and finding the beauty within you takes a little more practice.

As I sat in the woods  the other day, resting with my dogs, before the hike back up to the car, I saw this blaze of light highlighting this tree. I thought about the way the light seem to create a halo around the baby bush and how the rest of the undergrowth was in darkness. But then I began to look around. I found another spot of sunlight, then another, and then another. Suddenly I knew the whole under growth, for as far as I could see, glowed with light even in the deepest shadow.

I felt at once humbled and inspired.
