SunShine Dialogue Number Two
ANTOINE DE SAINT-EXUPERY:
If you want to build a ship, don’t herd people together to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.
CARL SCHURZ:
Ideals are like stars: you will not succeed in touching them with your hands, but like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them you reach your destiny.
I live on the breezes of the new spring air, up where wisps of clouds lift mountains into the sky. Bright sunny days and warm silky nights are with me always. Love and companionship thrive on a plateau of ecstasy. The gods spoon me ambrosia before I settle down to untroubled sleep, with a blissful smile on my face. And tomorrow, ahhh tomorrow, that is another dream!
Right this very minute as I look out my window, a rhododendron blooms with flowers of soft rosy red, full in the sun of a beautiful summer morning.
Out in the back garden I can hear the trickle of the water falling into my goldfish pond.
The quotes, and all the above illustrate ideals from the grand to the simple sounds of water falling into water. Beauty abounds on this beautiful very green planet.
Beautiful Summer Morning.Com is about living in the sunshine, finding the beauty all about us, living a life that exemplifies all the grand things of nature and of man. Nature’s rose, captured on a digital camera, and flashed around the world via the Internet for all to see and enjoy. A synthesis of nature and man’s creative capacity.
Listen to Beethoven’s 7th symphony while lounging on a flower-strewn deck washed in soft summer breezes and lovely sound. A synthesis of nature and man’s creative capacity.
Without ideals, the digital camera would not exist. With out a passion to strive to reach an ideal, Beethoven’s 7th would never reach our ears.
We need ideals to light the path, to serve as a measure of our progress, to offer a beacon of hope when hope has abandoned us to some grim earthly reality.
What are your ideals? How do you wish to live your life? What passions drive you? The answers of course are as varied as mankind and the infinite patterns of nature.
Can you answer those questions on a personal level? Have you written them down? Do you use them as a guide to stay your course, as a lure to pull you back when distractions threaten to drown you?
You can pooh-pooh the whole notion of ideals. We, as a group of individual, have done an excellent job of throwing suspicion on lofty goals, and far flung dreams. How many times have people accused you, or others of living in a dream world? “Get real”, has entered the lexicon as a sneering indictment for daring to strive toward a better world.
Yet, without dreamers we would still be sitting in the dark afraid of the shadows, and victims to the nightmares that roamed cross the night.
Discovering what your ideals are, what your dreams are, and then translating that data into a statement of living, a personal mission statement is worthy of some thought on a sunny Sunday morning.
Until very recently I could not articulate my mission statement. It took buying a $45 dollar Franklin Covey daytime at a Costco store, and the little instruction CD inside, to finally get my values, my ideals verbalized and into a personal mission statement.
From that I developed my personal Keys for living. Both tools keep me focused on the tasks that are important to me, the tasks that I love to perform, and the tasks that make my life sing.
You can do something about it. You can form your own personal mission statement, and then start living by it. You have no idea how much your personal mission statement will liberate you. You have no idea how much fun you can have with it.
Stop living someone else’s ideal and live your own!
So how do you do this? Follow the link below over to the Franklin Covey site and go to click on Library and Resources and in the picture you will the mission statement Wizard. click on that aand follow along. You will be amazed I promise you.
